Teachers across Butts County this week are getting ready for next week’s start of the new school year.

With open houses scheduled this week, teachers were already on campus Monday to start their preparation for 2017-18.

At Jackson Elementary School Monday morning, teachers started the day with breakfast and exercise. The workout, a team building event for teachers and administrators, was led by Morton Patton of Putting Health Into Today (PHIT).

“Taking flight and soaring to new heights is our theme for the year,” Jackson Elementary School Principal Sheila Barlow said. “He’s leading us in some fun, team building activities to get our hearts racing and motivated for the new school year. We started with a light breakfast, our workout here and then we’ll start on teacher handbook and getting the rooms ready for open house.”
